Monument renovation & restoration
Over decades, monuments subside, lean, crack, discolour or lose their lettering. Renovation brings them back, and it usually costs far less than a new memorial. If you already have a family grave, this is often the work you need.

Ground settlement tilts and separates a monument; weather stains and erodes the stone; lettering fades as paint or gilding wears; and joints, kerbing or vases crack or come loose. Older marble and sandstone are especially prone to weathering.
What restoration involves
Depending on the monument, work can include lifting and resetting on stable foundations, repairing cracks and rejoining sections, cleaning the stone, and recutting or regilding the inscription. The aim is to make it sound and legible again while keeping its character.
What it costs
Renovation is quoted to the specific work, and is almost always far cheaper than replacing the monument. A mason will inspect and advise what's worth doing.
